In 1948 some prestigious journalists and gastronomes such as Curnonsky, Clos-Jouve and Henri Monnier from the Canard Enchaîné among others founded the Académie Rabelais in the Château harvest room. It still exists today. As Claude and Yvonne GEOFFRAY didn 't have any children it was their nephew Claude, my father, who became the zealous defender of all their actions and one of the main figures of the Beaujolais region. My elders departed too soon and left me the charge ofChâteau Thivin in 1987 together with my wife Evelyne. She also added a new estate to our heritage: "Le Manoir du Pavé".

Thivin is in the very heart of the Beaujolais winemaking region and its human-sized château with varnished scalloped tiles that nestles on the slopes of Mount Brouilly surrounded by vines has a very special atmosphere. The traditional winemaking techniques used at the château are closely linked to the technical. The many-leveled cellars were thought out so that the wine can be made using gravity in order to respect the grapes and the wine to the full. There is a beautiful blue-stone vaulted cellar where the wine matures in oak tuns and another older one under the Château itself where the wine is laid down in bottles in the very best conditions.
