When he came back from the Great War, Claude, the previous one's son, took over the estate and overcame the bad sales of the 30's by creating the Côte de Brouilly appellation. He worked very hard together with his wife Yvonne not only to develop and to make the name Côte de Brouilly known but also to create the maison des Beaujolais in 1953.

They welcomed many artists and press personalities to the Château including the famous French writer, Colette during the 1947 grape harvest. Who wrote "the covered courtyard resounded with the sound voices, cartwheels and heavily clad feet as the forty harvesters for the estate went down to their meal escorted by their strong, winey odor. How I would have loved to follow them..."
